Mission Specialist Defender

The Mission Specialist Defender configuration is designed for more precise control of the vehicle position and orientation, heavier payloads, and demanding intervention, such as rendering unexploded ordnance safe or cleaning nets for offshore fish farms.

With seven thrusters, the Defender is able to move in any direction, and maintain active pitch to face the vehicle in an upward or downward orientation. The addition of third party control and navigation software from Greensea Systems or Seebyte makes the Defender a popular configuration for dangerous or heavy-duty missions.

Defender Rotating Manipulator Arm

The Mission Specialist Rotating Manipulator Arm has full 360º head rotation and five interchangeable jaws for multiple tasks—anything from untangling tether snags to collecting samples to recovering objects up to 22.6 kg (50 lbs). From the hand controller or control panel, you can retrieve items in confined or hazardous locations. The VideoRay ROV’s camera can be tilted down to focus in on the jaw to provide a close view of the operation. When not needed, the Rotating Manipulator Arm can be easily removed. The Rotating Manipulator Arm is delivered with all 5 interchangeable heads. It can be used in conjunction with most other VideoRay attachments.

Single Axis Manipulator

The VideoRay Manipulator Arm easily attaches to the VideoRay Pro 4 skid’s existing holes and lifts objects from underwater. Heavy objects can be retrieved by using the tether of the ROV. Using the hand controller or control panel, you can open and close the jaws to a two-inch distance to retrieve items in confined or hazardous locations. The VideoRay ROV’s camera focuses on the manipulator arm to provide a close view of the operation. When not needed, the manipulator arm can be easily removed in seconds.
