AUV62-AT
underwater vehicle systems for military applications
The AUV62-AT system is intended for ASW operator training, as well as for on board sonar, helicopter sonar and command system check-up. The system also plays an important part in the capability evaluation of an entire ASW force.
The AUV62-AT is an artificial acoustic target that mimics a submarine in a way that is compatible with any torpedo and sonar system on the market, today and in the future.
The AUV62-AT system replaces the use of a submarine in the role of a manoeuvring training target. The vehicle transmits broadband noise similar to the passive signatures of a conventional submarine. It also echoes back received active sonar pings received with a realistic target strength and echo elongation.
THE AUV62-AT SYSTEM
The complete AUV62-AT system consists of a vehicle, a command/control system and all ancillary systems required to operate and maintain the system. The command and control system includes a PC based operator console which isused for mission planning, mission control and mission evaluation.
The AUV62-AT System consists of:
- AUV62 Vehicle
- Signal Generation and Analysis System
- Mission Planning System
- Mission Evaluation System
- Launch & Recovery System (LARS)
- ILS Package
TYPICAL MISSION
An ASW-mission for the AUV62-AT system can typically include the following steps:
- Mission planning
- Launch
- Transit to the mission area (normally submerged)
- Execution of the pre-progranuned mission with pre-defined signatures and behaviours
- Transit to the recovery point (rendezvous)
- Recovery
- Evaluation of recorded exercise data
- Preparation of a report and going through the ASW exercise evaluation
